RIGHTS & TRANSPARENCY

Create with clarity.

Yes—Impact Studio is licensed for commercial music and sound design. Create impacts for your trailer cues, production music, films, games, advertisements and client projects, and use them in finished productions under the app and engine licence terms.

Built for composers. Ready for your productions.

You can release, distribute and license finished music and master recordings containing Impact Studio sounds. This includes delivering work to publishers, labels, distributors and clients. They do not need their own Impact Studio licence simply to use or license your finished production.

We charge no royalties per sound or project, and we do not claim ownership of your compositions, recordings or projects. The restriction is on redistributing the sounds themselves as a sample pack, sound library or standalone sound collection.

Sounds an AI app makes for you through Agent access, in Impact Studio 1.2 and later, are covered by the same permissions and the same restriction.

For commissioned or catalogue work, follow your publisher’s or client’s policy on AI-generated material and make sure you have the permissions needed for any audio you bring into the app.

A commercially licensed sound engine

Impact Studio uses Stability AI’s Stable Audio 3 Medium. Stability’s published licensing framework permits qualifying commercial use, including outputs from permitted fine-tunes. The engine agreement included with Impact Studio sets out the applicable conditions.

Commercial permission and warranties are separate parts of the agreement. Our licence permits the uses described above; it does not promise that every output is unique, exclusively owned or free from every possible third-party claim. Impact Studio does not provide an infringement indemnity. See the full terms for the details.

Your sounds stay yours—and stay local

Bring in your own recordings, train your own specialists and explore new variations with Reconstruction. Generation and audio processing happen on your Mac, and Impact Studio does not upload your recordings or prompts to an online AI service. An AI app you connect through Agent access follows its own terms; see the Privacy Policy.

From Impact Studio 1.3 you can also turn AI off and build hits only from your own samples with My samples. Your samples stay where they are and stay yours, and a hit built only from them is yours to use as far as your rights in those samples allow. The sample-pack restriction above applies to sounds made with Impact Studio’s AI and built-in content, not to these.

Use recordings you own or have permission to use for the intended purpose. A licence to use a sample in music may not also cover AI training or reconstruction. When an input carries existing rights, those rights still matter for the result.

Origin records, without changing the sound

To support Article 50’s transparency requirements, Impact Studio includes signed, machine-readable marking for exported audio and a free offline verifier, backed by documented testing. These export-origin records help you document how a sound was made and share that information with a publisher or client.

WAV, FLAC and MP3 exports carry C2PA Content Credentials. AIFF exports carry a signed annotation. The records identify known AI involvement, the app and model versions where available, and the export itself. This marking does not alter the audio samples.

Included in Impact Studio 1.1.1 and later. Earlier exports are not retroactively marked.

You can check a supported file locally in the app, or use the free offline checker without an Impact Studio licence. Keep the sound and its origin record with your project; batch exports include a report for each audio file.

How verification works

Records are signed with a key unique to the installation. Verification checks the signature and the file’s integrity. The signature identifies a local installation rather than a centrally certified publisher, and timestamps use the Mac’s clock.

The marking uses file metadata, not a watermark added to the sound signal. Editing or re-encoding can remove or invalidate metadata. A missing mark does not establish whether audio was AI-generated. Where source history is unavailable, the record says so.

Provenance documents origin and integrity; it is not copyright clearance or a certification of full Article 50 compliance. Read the European Commission’s transparency guidance for the legal framework.

The standalone checker runs locally with Python and its dependencies installed. With uv, the first run downloads the public dependencies; your audio is not uploaded.

uv run verify-impact-audio.py "/path/to/your sound.wav"

Add --json for a machine-readable report. Compatible C2PA tools can also inspect WAV, FLAC and MP3 credentials; they may show the local signer as untrusted.

About the foundation model’s pre-training

Stability’s model card reports licensed AudioSparx recordings and Freesound recordings under CC0, CC BY and CC Sampling+. It describes screening and links to the provider’s attributions.

Creative Commons conditions depend on the licence and use. CC Sampling+, for example, contains attribution and advertising restrictions. Its presence in pre-training does not by itself establish that every generated output inherits those restrictions. Equally, a model licence does not waive third-party rights.

These sources describe the provider’s model and licensing position. They are not an independent check by Impact Studio of every uploader’s rights or a clearance certificate for individual outputs. Stability’s separately advertised Enterprise indemnification is not a benefit included with Impact Studio.

Information for your publisher

Share the licence summary and available export-origin records with your delivery. Keep any input permissions alongside them. This gives your publisher practical documentation of the permitted uses and your workflow.
